Celebration of Spiritual Birthday

Yesterday was Ps. Matt McCloghry’s spiritual birthday, and we want to take a moment to celebrate with him. A spiritual birthday is the day when your spirit comes alive in Christ and marks the beginning of your new life in Him. Ps. Matt’s spiritual birthday is January 6th, 2002, and he commemorated it yesterday. It’s a wonderful reminder that our true birthday is the day we are born again in Christ.

Ps. Matt also encourages you to celebrate your own spiritual birthday. Take a moment to reflect on the day you accepted Jesus into your life. Write it down, remember it, and thank God for the journey He has taken you on since then. It’s a beautiful way to honor the transforming power of God’s love in your life.

Ps. Matt also received a special gift from the Lord on his spiritual birthday. He was told that he would be given a deepening of God’s word in the coming year. It’s a reminder that God loves to give us gifts on our spiritual birthdays, and these gifts are always tailored to our individual journeys. So don’t hesitate to ask God for a gift on your spiritual birthday. He delights in giving good gifts to His children.

Anointing Sunday at Colonial Church

Significance of Anointing Sunday

Today is Anointing Sunday at Colonial Church STA, and it is a powerful and significant day in our church. It is a time when we come together as a community and seek God’s anointing and appointment for the year ahead. We believe that there is a specific appointment for each one of us in 2024, a divine purpose and calling that God wants to reveal to us.

Appointment and anointing for 2024

As we gather today, our trained leaders will be spread out across the room, ready to pray over each person individually. We invite you to fully participate in this special time of anointing and prayer. It is a time when confirmations, visions, dreams, and God’s voice become clearer, guiding us towards our appointments and anointings for this year.

On Anointing Sunday, we recognize the need for the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is through the Holy Spirit that we receive the anointing and empowerment to fulfill our appointments and walk in the calling God has for us. Just as a house needs to be connected to power lines and a sailboat needs its sails up to move, we need the Holy Spirit’s power to navigate through life and fulfill our God-given destiny.

Power of the Holy Spirit

Understanding the need for the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in the life of a believer. It is through the Holy Spirit that we are able to experience the presence and power of God in our lives. Without the Holy Spirit, our faith can become stagnant and our spiritual journey can lack direction. The Holy Spirit is the source of life and power that helps us navigate through life’s challenges and empowers us to live a life aligned with God’s will.

Examining examples in the Bible

Throughout the Bible, we see numerous examples of individuals being appointed and anointed by the Holy Spirit. One such example is the anointing of David as king of Israel. Despite his young age and lack of experience, David was chosen and anointed by the prophet Samuel. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, David was equipped to defeat giants, lead armies, and become a man after God’s own heart.

Another powerful example is the anointing of the disciples by Jesus. Before His ascension, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to empower His disciples to carry out His mission on earth. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, filling them with boldness, wisdom, and supernatural abilities. From that moment on, the disciples were transformed and empowered to spread the message of Jesus to the ends of the earth.

Praying for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

On this Anointing Sunday, we want to invite you to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate experience from salvation, where believers are filled afresh with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. It is a precious gift from God that equips us to live a life of purpose, boldness, and effectiveness in advancing His kingdom.

If you desire to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we encourage you to pray and ask God to fill you with His Spirit. Seek His presence, surrender your life to Him, and ask Him to fill you with His power and anointing. Our trained leaders are available to pray with you and provide guidance during this time. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through you as you surrender to Him.

Importance of Knowledge and Perseverance

Developing a deeper understanding

As we navigate through our spiritual journeys, it is important to continually develop a deeper understanding of God’s word and His ways. The more knowledge we have, the better equipped we are to discern His voice, understand His purposes, and walk in His will. Take time each day to study the Bible, engage in meaningful discussions, and seek out resources that can enhance your understanding of God’s truth.

Persevering in faith

In addition to knowledge, perseverance is essential in our walk with God. Life is full of challenges, and there will be times when we face obstacles and difficulties that test our faith. It is during these seasons that we need to persevere, trusting in God’s faithfulness and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. Keep pressing on, knowing that God will never leave you nor forsake you.

Story of D Moody and the Power of the Holy Spirit

Dwight L. Moody, a well-known evangelist, experienced a powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit that transformed his ministry and impacted countless lives. Before receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Moody felt a deep longing for more of God’s power and anointing. He sought the Holy Spirit earnestly and, in 1871, had a remarkable encounter that forever changed his life.

After being filled with the Holy Spirit, Moody’s ministry exploded with newfound power and effectiveness. He witnessed countless conversions, and his preaching became even more impassioned and anointed. Moody’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the impact it can have on our lives and ministries.
